Shoney's Strawberry Pie

If you are a lover of pies and fruit, then you will love this dessert!  It comes to us courtesy of a little restaurant called Shoney's...you might have heard of it.  Enjoy this treat that bursts with flavor!

Shoney’s Strawberry Pie

Total Time: 3 hrs 20 min
Prep: 20 min
Cook: 3 hrs
Yield: 6-8 slices

Ingredients
1 cup of sugar
3 heaping tablespoons of cornstarch
3 tablespoons of strawberry Jello mix (DO NOT use sugar free)
1 cup of water
1 pint of strawberries
1 Pillsbury graham cracker pie crust
Cool Whip (optional)

Directions
1. Combine the sugar, cornstarch, and dry gelatin mix in a pot over medium heat and stir until combined.
2. Add the water and cook until it turns thick and clear, stirring constantly to prevent from burning. Set aside to cool.
3. Cut the strawberries in half and arrange them on the pie crust.
4. When the Jello mix has cooled, pour it over the strawberries and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours. Top it with whip cream if you desire.

Cookbook Crate with Annie Sloan Wax

Annie Sloan Paint is a special decorative chalk paint created by a lady from Oxford, England.  There are 30 colors plus a clear wax and a brown wax.

Recently, my mom found a wine crate from Sam's to use as a cookbook storage box.  She used Annie Sloan's Brown Wax and applied 2 coatsAfter 24 hours, she buffed the box until it looked as distressed as she wanted it.

Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana

 
 My husband and I are such huge fans of Olive Garden we could easily eat there once a week!  If you've ever been to Olive Garden, you know they offer soup or salad with any meal.  Well, we can answer that question without even thinking!  Zuppa Toscana! It is a potato based soup with some veggies and greens and a little bit of spice.  I really hope you like this recipe as much as we do!

Olive Garden’s Zuppa Toscana

Total Time: 1 hr
Prep: 15 min
Cook: 45 min
Yield: 4

Ingredients
½ pound ground Italian sausage
2 Yukon Gold Potatoes, diced into 1 inch chunks
½ large yellow onion, diced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 cup kale, diced
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 can chicken broth
2 cups water
½ cup heavy whipping cream

Directions
1. In a large pot, heat the chicken stock and water on medium heat.  Add the potatoes, onions and garlic.
2. While the potatoes heat, cook the ground sausage in a skillet.
3. Add the sausage, kale and red pepper flakes into the pot and simmer until kale is softened.
4. Stir in the heavy whipping cream and simmer until heated thru.
5. Serve and enjoy!

Bacon Wrapped Green Beans

 
This recipe is so easy to make, and would be perfect for any family dinner!  Enjoy!

Bacon Wrapped Green Beans

Total Time: 40 min
Prep: 10 min
Cook: 30 min
Yield: 16 bundles

Ingredients
2 cans of long green beans
1 package of bacon
2 cloves of minced garlic
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1 stick unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
Cooking spray

Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Bundle 6 to 10 green beans in a bundle and wrap tightly in ½ slice of bacon.
3. Do this until you have used all the beans wrapped in bacon.
4. Mix the remaining ingredients and melt over medium heat until you have a light boil. 
5. Pour the butter/sugar mix over the green beans in a greased casserole dish.
6. Bake for 30 minutes and serve immediately.
